Greater Faith Baptist Church "There's Victory in your Praise and Praise in your Victory"
On July 1, 1957 at 1300 North "J" Street at 8:30 PM, Greater Faith Baptist Church was
Established with the Rev Prentiss Stanley Walker acting as
Brother Martin Benford, Sister Marie Benford, Sister Y.B. Benford, Brother Don Benford, Sister Susie Jeffery, Sister Esther Johnson, Brother Robert Perkins, Sister Willie Simmon, Sister M. J. Summers, Sister Mamie Tigner, Sister Louise Wallace, Sister Leathia Walker.
The Rev Prentiss S. Walker was chosen to be the Pastor, As the church grew with the
Lord's continuous blessings the present facility that we now enjoy was constructed by
Rev. Walker, The building was dedicated to the Lord on April 23, 1967.
Many attended the dedication service including the Rev. Donald M Clark and the Rev
Jesses Wesley, Also attending along with the Pastor and founders were numerous
Distinguished citizens who have now passed on Mayor William L. Taylor, Judge Robert
L Reid, Dr Charles I. West, Rev I W Wilson, Rev J L Simmons, and Deacon Mack Payne
Rev Walker served diligently as Pastor of Greater Faith Baptist Church until his death
March 2, 1977. Successive Pastor of the church was Rev Oates, Rev George Turner
Rev. A.B. Carr and Rev Earl Henry. In this year 2013, we recognize Pastor Jerry L. Page,
with great thanksgiving and appreciation for the vision, and obedience to the Lord. In the past three years we have completed phases 1,2,3,4,5,6 and now we are on phases 7 & 8, which is the repaving of the Parking Lot and Putting up a Church Sign.
We would like to thank the founders who established Greater Faith Baptist Church And it is with sincere gratitude and appreciation that we recognize and honor the
many who have labored to sustain Greater Faith Baptist Church for 61 years.
